As awareness of global food security increases, recirculating aquaculture systems are becoming a more important driver of food accessibility. RAS aquaculture is unique in that it is a highly flexible cultivation method and can be adapted to virtually any environment and localizes supply chains. However, the system is still in the developing stages due to the variety of farmed species, high initial investment, and lack of operating knowledge. Therefore, a better understanding of the system and introducing innovative technologies are a priority.
